Mrs. Collier's Blog

Final Film

This film we made about working with our 1-2 buddies this year. We have been using the iPods to read stories, interview each other about the story elements, and creating a story of our own using Puppet Pals. Enjoy!

Movie entry take 2

We have had a few issues with the sound. So I need to see if the kids want to re-shoot those scenes or to fix it using voice overs. The kids also wanted to add voice overs to go with the text slides. This piece is completely student done. We gave some guidance, but we let them do almost everything. If you see anything you think would help that could be fixed quickly, please let us know.

2010 First Proj. Live movie

This year we have done an expository writing about the value of a library. This went with our story Tomas and the Library Lady. We are taking this writing into a movie format so that we can foster more respect towards our library. We have been having some problems with disrespectful behavior in the library so we are hoping that this writing assignment and movie will help stop these problems.

Project 3 sample with Sonic pics

So this is a sample where we used Sonic Pics. I think this is a great program for easily taking some pictures and adding text to it. Nothing fancy, which is better to keep it simple. My students who have tried all the programs I told them to, all liked this one the best. The only trouble I have had it in pushing out the photos to some of my iPods. Some sync fine with no problems, others will not accept the photos and I have to completely restore the iPods, and then reinstall everything before it will accept the pictures. So that part has been frustrating, but once in the iPod, truly a great program.

Project 3 post

The Mysteries of Harris Burdick inspired writings, give the students 1 sentence from a story and they have to write the rest of the story and illustrate it. We tried ReelDirector, speak Easy 2, mobile studio, and finally are using Sonic pics. We have yet to find a "Perfect" program for putting audio with pictures on the iPods. I will post some more samples as soon as we figure out how to get them out of iTunes as a movie and onto my blog.

iRead Project

My class has been writing stories based on the Chris Van Allsburg book, "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick." THey had to use the one line given to them from the story and create the rest of the story to go with it. We are also focusing on visualization in my class, so they drew pictures to illustrate their stories, and we used Reel Director to put the 2 together. Reel Director can be a little stubborn, we found, and we kept having problems like the sound tracks over lapping. It also seems to cut off the end and fade out after a certain point. However, we did like how easy it was to record with, and add pictures to.

Here are 2 samples:

Here is our take on the Ipod commercial: The Funnest iPod ever.

It's not completely done. We are going to add a shot of a whole class using the iPods and credits.
