We have just started reading James Forten and the reading strategy is questioning. The students are doing a picture walk and recording their questions on the iPods. I need to review the four different recording applications that I have.

This is a jigsaw activity we did. The students did the original artwork based on the story we read and recorded themselves.

I would like to jigsaw the selection "Volcanoes" and create original artwork. Each student will get a part that they will summarize and record themself. We may extend this to include main idea and details, as this is one of our goals this year.

My daughter had spelling homework so I thought this might replace the old "write a sentence" with each word, although she didn't have to spell them. I do know she understands their meaning. She's a first-grader.

Students will create an oral version of the traditional book report. I will provide a framework for writing a script. Pictures will be added by the students. This will assess comprehension. Students will describe setting, characters, problem and solution. They will also evaluate the story and perhaps tell their favorite part.

My video will be a parody of those medicine commercials where they tell you to "Ask your doctor."

I will be putting pictures of the vocabulary words from on the iPod and students will record a definition.
