For the 2nd project I'm planning on working with a 2nd grade class that will be reading non-fiction stories from a software program called Read Naturally SE. Students will be assigned to read stories at their own reading level. After students do fluency readings and answer comprehension questions using Read Naturally they will be prompted to summarize the story in their own words. I could also use the iPods to record their fluency and practice readings. Students will write a summary on paper and then I plan on using GarageBand to have students read and record their summaries. I will then create an enhanced podcast using the students' drawings. The drawings will be done either free hand or using Kid Pix. I still haven't decided that part.

I like how you explained the other parts of the project - helps to put things in context.
Drawings or KidPix - I would lean toward the drawings - KP often takes a chunk of computer time.
