Please Don't Wrinkle Me- Project 1

My students chose to focus on a topic that relates to Positive Action. We decided to do our movie as a PSA and plan to keep to the 60 second time frame. The idea of "wrinkling" comes from a lesson that I taught the students on the first day of school. I demonstrated how our feelings are like a piece of paper and every time you do or say something mean to another person it wrinkles them. I also showed them that even though they say sorry the wrinkle is still there and the wrinkle lasts forever. Ever since the first day of school my students remind each other not to wrinkle others.

As we brainstormed our movie, we watched several PSA movies. My students wanted to try a few new things. They wanted to try to do some voice overs, play with different shot sizes, and to do short repetitive clips to make our main idea clear. As you review the script and storyboard you will notice that there are a lot of clips; many of these clips are only 3-5 seconds.

We look forward to your feedback! Enjoy.

This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. Fun to watch and fun to make. We are also working on a similar PSA so my kids are super interested to see how yours pulls together. The "wrinkle" philosophy is fabulous!

I love the metaphor. I assume you are going to use the same "wrinkling" footage backwards for the unwrinkling? Very effective. It looks like you've thought out carefully what's needed to produce this, so I think your class will end up with a first rate project.

I suppose you'll present solutions by "ironing out" problems! I think you're smart to keep the concept simple, yet so appropriate these days. I'm impressed that your students are anxious to try new things. Isn't fun when your students are having fun too?! Production looks to be well thought out. Looking forward to seeing this project.

I really like how you've connected this concept with wrinkling a paper. Good job at including lots of kids as well!

My kids (fellow first graders) would love this video. Being caring and respectful is a very important but somewhat obscure concept for younger children. Here the idea is presented in such a visual way that it would be very easy for them to understand. I'm looking forward to sharing this with my class!
