How Two Be Grate At Ate

We've struggled with Homophones all year long. We've also struggled with how to be the best we can be "daily". Our solution for behavior is a little reminder called Daily Affirmations, which we say everyday. Brainstorming how to fix our Homophone problem was to have a quick fix, namely Homophone Hal. We thought it was easier to delegate! Hope you enjoy this as much as we did.

We're still working on the logistics, but the basic premise is writing about what an eight year old's acceptable behavior should be. Students write three to five rules they feel are mandatory for an eight year old, but are having trouble with spelling, i.e. homophones.

What Makes a Great Story (Editing Process)

We're working very hard finding backgrounds for our green screens, searching for just the right audio and music, and struggling with time. We've done ALOT of cropping which speaks volumes about the types of video shots we've made. We have 6 teams which include (1) Set Director (1) Video Director (1) Sound Director and (1) Props Manager. Each team is assigned to certain Scenes and Shots and is responsible for the filming and editing of each.

Thanks to some help from Mr. Soucy we now know why we couldn't get our green screen backgrounds to work.

QAR - PSA

My students were tenacious and fully engaged throughout this project. The editing process was a bit less exhilarating, but very eye opening. We all learned the true meaning of collaboration. . .highs, lows and potholes! Most important, we're anxious for the next project.

PSA Pitch

Building Comprehension Using QAR*

(*Question Answer Relationships)

We’ll start with a scene where a student is having difficulty finding the answer to a question in Reading. The QAR Squad comes to the rescue.  I will use one student character for each strategy; Right There, Think & Search, On My Own and Author & Me. Characters will recap each strategy for the student in trouble. PSA ends with the student happily waving good-bye to the QAR squad as they run off to help another student in distress.
