    iRead Project - Keynote Summarizing

Using Keynote, students will summarize a reading selection. Since one of our reading comprehension strategies is to summarize, and the one we focused on for the 1st trimester school-wide, we will create a summary on Keynote highlighting the important elements of the story.

    The Stranger Summary

I needed to tier this activity as I have students with
    a huge range of abilities.

    1st Tier
Use a few slides that summarize the beginning, middle, and end.

    2nd Tier
    Use Summary Chart that includes:
    Setting description
    Characters
    Problem
    Events in sequence
    Solution/ending
    Lesson, if applicable

    3rd Tier
Open organization as long as it has all of the above elements. One student is working on what the protagonist wants, and what the antagonist wants.

The issue I have is one of copyright. We definitely want to include a picture of the cover of the book and some illustrations. Students may draw some to add, however, for the sake of time, I'm having them choose some general photos from similar items from the stories.

    Chia,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
This looks like a great plan.
I have done some checking and talking.
For our purposes, we think posting your model project can use the photo(s) as mentioned above. You may wish to show students how to cite the publisher and illustrator.
However, if you are thinking of publishing all student projects on the web, we may need to look at the copyright piece a bit more.
