Using Web-Based Group Calendars (CalDAV)

To subscribe to a web-based group calendar that you have read-only access to (Tiger or Leopard):
  1. Open iCal
  2. In the menu bar click on Calendar>Subscribe
  3. Enter the following: http://podcast.eusd4kids.org:8010/calendars/groups/groupname/calendar/
  4. Enter the Login / Password if required.
  5. Give the new calendar a title, and you'll want to have it refresh at least once a day.
To join a web-based group calendar that you have read/write access to (Leopard Only):
  1. Open iCal
  2. In the menu bar click on iCal>Preferences
  3. Click on the Accounts button
  4. Click the Add (+) button in the bottom-left corner of the preferences pane to add a new account.
  5. In the Description field, type a short, meaningful description of the calendar (for example, “Work Calendar”).
  6. In the Username and Password fields, type the user name and password given to you by your server administrator
  7. Under Server Options type in the following: http://podcast.eusd4kids.org:8010/principals/groups/groupname/
  8. click Add.
  9. In the Refresh Calendars pop-up menu, specify how often you want your computer to update the information it shares with the server (for example, to update changes you’ve made to your calendar).
  10. Set the general times that you want to be available for meetings and events. For example, if you work part-time and want coworkers to schedule meetings with you only on weekdays between the hours of noon and 5:00 p.m., select Weekdays and type the times in the adjacent fields. If your availability includes weekends or only some of the weekdays, select Custom, click Edit, and then make selections to set your availability.

Groupwise Autofill Problem

The following email was sent to all Teachers on June 2, 2008 11:31:06 AM PDT:

The web based email was upgraded over the weekend (uh-oh) and several people have noticed having trouble with the autofill addresses. If you're using Safari, clearing the cache seems to rectify the problem. It's easy: while in Safari, choose Safari > Empty Cache... (see attached). Then try again.

If you're using Firefox and you have a similar problem, the empty cache solution may help, too. I don't use that Browser, so I'm not sure. FYI

RELATED INFO

I use Firefox quite a bit and have not had any apparent change in email behavior with the new install.  However, if you wish to empty Cache or History, etc.,  attached is one way of doing it.

Also, another problem users have with the autofill function is that they frequently mistype an email address.  The system then remembers this mistyped address and autofills it for you.  You can fix these by going into Frequent Contacts and deleting the mistypes.  The handout linked below explains.
