The Garageband reading template was designed to track individual student progress using Podcasting. You can use grade-level or ELL HM selection summaries with fluency tracking numbers (available on our district server). A built-in timer lets your students know when to stop reading. Then click save and you have a running record of student reading. Listed below are the reading fluency podcast templates, an example film, and directions for accessing HM fluency summaries on the district server.





Have students record a minute-long summary of their Houghton Mifflin theme selections. All of the story titles are entered for you, and selection summaries are available on the district server. All you have to do is record student voices and track words per minute. This is a great tool to provide specific student feedback. Also, it is a great artifact for parent conferences! To track each student’s summary readings: open one of the templates provided, record their first selection summary, and click FILE> SAVE AS> and enter student name.
