This lesson is targeted for 5th Grade (although 8th Grade might be interested, too). It's a very simple lesson where the class builds a Keynote presentation containing all 44 presidents, with each student contributing one (or two) presidents.
Each student should be able to finish his or her contribution in a single session. Then each individual project is combined into a Master file. There are instructions for four different outputs for the presentation:
- A series of stills for use as Flashcards on an iPod
- An iPod-ready version of the presentation as a QuickTime movie
- A full-quality movie for playback on a computer in full screen mode
- A PDF booklet that contains all 44 presidents
- Of course, you could also use it as a Keynote presentation
The lesson includes all that is necessary to complete the project, including pictures of each president and their signatures (both provided in an accompanying folder).
The lesson template, pictures, and PDFs should already be available on the Common folder at your school. The file here includes all of that plus the original Pages and Keynote documents for both iWork '08 and '09, so you can easily edit them, if you choose. It also includes a finished sample with all 44 presidents in place.
