In this lesson, students will interview family members and record historical information about themselves for use in creating a multimedia timeline of five important life events. They will describe, illustrate, and narrate each event.
Standards
Language Arts:
- Writing 1.0 (Power Standard for Grade 2): Students write clear and coherent sentences and paragraphs that develop a central idea. Their writing shows they consider the audience and purpose. Students progress through the stages of the writing process (i.e., pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing successive versions).
- 1.4 (3) Evaluation and Revision: Students revise original drafts to improve sequence and provide more descriptive detail
History-Social Science
- 2.1.1: Students trace the history of a family through the use of primary and secondary sources, including artifacts, photographs, interviews, and documents.
- 2.1.3: Sequence of Events: Students place important events in their lives in the order in which they occurred (on a time line)
